Moving can be seriously dangerous business. Read on to find out how you can avoid some truly explosive situtations!

Here it comes, the removalist truck driving down your street, when all of a sudden, BANG! Whats happened?! The vehicle has exploded, is this the scene of a James Bond movie? Okay, so maybe a situation such as this occurring is slightly unrealistic; but it is very important when moving your goods that you do not include, hazardous chemicals, or hazardous items. This is to avoid fires, explosions, and chemical spills, which can ultimately lead to injury, damages, and even death.
The following items may not be moved under any circumstances due to health and safety reasons, and not to mention the risk of damaging your goods!
  • Acids
  • Car batteries
  • Gas bottles
  • Aerosols
  • Lighter fluids
  • Oils and fuels
  • Alcohol
  • Methylated spirits
  • Pool cleaning chemicals
  • Weed killers
  • Fireworks
  • Science Kits
  • Munitions
  • Fertiliser
  • Anything else that is explosive, toxic, highly flammable, or otherwise dangerous to transport!

It is also important to think about what, and how you pack certain items. For example, Betty packs her kitchen utensils, including her favorite knife. When packing for her move Betty places all her utensils in a flimsy cardboard box, while also putting one strip of thin tape over the box. As the removalist vehicle moves her goods the vehicle hits a bump causing the knife to go through the cardboard, straight into Betty's antique couch! Oh no.

Rest assured, all of our drivers take care when loading goods, to avoid the likliehood of damages. However it is still important to ensure you take certain measures when packing for your move:

Heres some easy tips to consider when packing items such as, knives, and garden tools:

  • Pack your goods securely.
  • Clearly label your boxes, I.e 'Cooking Utensils.'
  • Ensure they will not cause injury to yourself, or your removalists.
  • Ensure they cannot cause damages to other goods in the removalist vehicle.
